Sounds as if it won't be long before the dress clothes end up as working clothes while they try to feed hungry youngsters.

the daws are getting familiar with the menu, i am learning good daws baits

when i get the shiny fitted up again, i recon daws in flight is possible and will look rather nice

i might need to use the remote as they are still a bit shy for hand held up close and personal at 3M so take the volume of airspace from a fixed tripod/set camera with the wifi remote to trigger the burst shoot when they turn up will probably be best

an umbrella clip for the tripod needs fabrication the camera is robust, but not that robust
the plastic bag thing can be "sweaty", the shower hat thing it came with is amusing but useless in the real world

a clip on one tripod leg, adjustable for tilt and height, sun shade or rain hat
and it might deter perching and worse seeing a large bird on an expensive camera is a little tense
"how much will it cost to get the guano out of the switches and lens mechanism?" is not a question i wish to ask

the daws are clever and funny when getting mealworms from a "small bird" feeder
they are very careful not to let their rellies see them dining with the sparrows and pigeons, embarrassment or "ours"? could be both

a start is made on well-placed shiny, i need to do quite a bit more even with the bramble trimmed it is still shady in the canyon, fortunately it is "light duties" and almost possible, some bits i will need assistance with steps etc, upsetting but realistic

As you say Dpack; realistic. It is better to be realistic than to end up laid up.

Our main visitors of a non-human kind yesterday were buzzards high above us and a number of probably wood mice. I saw 2 yesterday, one of which was in a box pallet where it had no business to be. We need to shift the birch again to ensure there are none setting up home in the bottom of the pile.

If they didn't carry diseases and weren't so destructive..
I remember a programme..BBC2? Years ago, someone did a study on rats.
They are actually better than humans societally...caring for each other, being an "auntie" to younguns, all sorts of ways.
But....

diseases, umm most of them are human to human or other critter to human.
ratty de Foie gras lived in my shirt, no health issues(the name may have been a bad choice as he was eaten by dogpuss)

destructive, yep, see comic collection issue 2000AD 1 to 1258
ratty2y was not a shirt rat, proper rattus rattus plague rat, not keen on shirts, very clean and non infectious , friendly but not familiar

and there have been targets/victims, wrong place and rude manners can be fatal for them

Mice and rats have a bad habit of leaving urine wherever they go as they have no bladder as I understand. Apart from the unpleasant small of acetamide, they do carry Weills disease and can carry other things. They are inclined to gnaw their way through things, and do not generally behave in a way that endears them to humans. Ditto squirrels.

Pet rats are a different story if you don't mind the smell. I have never had one, but believe they can, as your Ratty de Foie Gras was, rather nice.

watch out, watch out, there is is a grin about

Translate: english > jackdaw

squark.. squark..............squark ..squark.... squark. squark squark

it seems that after the initial multi species alarms, the daws designate a "cryer" and possibly form a war party to defend the "region"

the small stuff hides and stays quiet once they are aware, unless grin is a close danger and panic involves screaming

Fact: They do have bladders. The misconception lies in the fact they use their urine as a form of communication, which causes them to mark their territory constantly.
