olives but the idea might be viable for other plant pathogens

finding the infected before they show symptoms and act as a source of infection has lots of applications

paying one person and their dog to go for a walk and report on the health of the plants seems a decent expense compared to losing all of a farm of trees or an entire local economy

knowing where, how much and early makes sense with any potential outbreak

Every disease has its smell..in any living thing. Good that they are doing this, if better late than never.

That sounds like an excellent idea. I remember a woman who could smell some disease, which I can't remember, so dogs ought to be better at it.

There has been stories before of dogs smelling cancer in their owners. What great animals they are.
