Construction industry would lobby against roofs if they could get away with it.

Round here there has been a stop to some building because of nutrient build up in the local harbours. In the past there was one until the sewers were improved. That was led by a local doctor. As the company that deals with out sewage has already been fined vast amounts of money for dumping, that could be the next sticking point.

I would think changing the socket on the end of the cable is relatively easy so claiming that as an excuse it pretty poor.

Changing the socket would be easy...I have been talking to Waerloga(brother) about that...the talk of not being suitable for foreign cars is rubbish! There is an international standard....his Nissan EV van was made in Japan...

Has anyone actually looked into the proposed/actual law?

I've seen the odd comment that anyone who builds off road parking/garage etc must include charging infrastructure but I can't find any actual government advice/law.

I'm my case it would seems rather stupid if I have to put in a charger as I doubt I would use of for a few year and would in all likelihood replace it with something else when required. (Obviously conduit would be laid to make any future install easier).

No idea on the actual law and would not be surprised if it doesn't make total sense.
Governments tend to be technically illiterate and influenced by lobbies.

A good example is the $7,500 tax credit in the USA which was applying to hybrids with miniscule electric range but not Teslas.
The electric range on some USA hybrid models is something like 20 miles.
