There are in fact 2 native truffles; summer truffle Tuber aestivum and Burgundy Tuber uncinatum. We found one many years ago in a wood near us. In fact we could have them in our woods as the conditions are right, but the problem is finding them. The one talked of in the link is supposed to be superior and so more expensive, but probably mainly hype.

Have you tasted the difference? It’s clearly subjective but that doesn’t make it hype.

My dads fruited last year, in a pot. I think it’s five years old.
