I have 2 ewes to be shorn. It's too early just now as the wool isn't rising yet. It is 730 feet above sea level and windy.
Normally a friend and ex-neighbour comes up with his portable machine; ewes confined in shed, we have a space in the building (very restricted) which is suitable, and I am in charge of the motor string and the foot clippers, foot spray and anything else needed.
I reckon if we wear masks and gloves we should be OK, perhaps not gloves for the shearer himself.
Failing that, just leave the ewes to get rid of the fleeces naturally on brambles, etc. They are big ewes and heavily fleeced.
Any comments/suggestions?

Just masks in that scenario should be plenty. Obviously hard to shear/clip with gloves on, if in doubt purple spray it!

dont leave it on , fly strike is horrible

even basic masks should be fine if you are both asymptomatic, and a scrub after messing with sheep never harms

never messing with sheep never harms

The job sounds pretty essential and you can't do it whilst socially distancing so PPE is the way.

masks, and latex gloves if possible, plus/or good, frequent hand washing and also avoid touching face and eyes. the usual precautions really.

Thanks everyone, roughly what I had assumed; it's actually not the right weather now!
