The Cinnabar Chanterelles are purported to be good eats, but not as choice as the yellows. I, however, am not sure as these are the first possible specimens I have ever found.

If I've got my species information correct, they are of the shagbark variety. They had big hulls that basically fell off of the nut. |

Why not try boiling a handful and baking another, then trying cracking those and a few oncooked ones? Should give an idea of whether cooking has any effect.
