I'd really like to keep bees but have never done it before and know NOTHING about it.

Can anyone recommend a good book / course / other source of info from which I can learn enough about it to get myself set up?

Ted Hooper's 'Guide to Bees and Honey' is very good. And your local association will probably run courses for beginners ... https://www.kentbee.com/

Loads of bee-keeping friends on here - so you've come to the right place.

Go look at BBKA website as a starting point. You'll find your local association listed which is worth joining for courses and support

books - there are loads - Ted Hopers Guide to Bees and Honey is regarded as the Bees Knees but there are plenty of others - even Country Living magazine do one on bee-keeping

I like this book book link

But joining your local apiary and getting hands on experience is invaluable.

I agree with getting in touch with your local association & try & find your nearest beekeepers to pester.
Most realise that the world needs a lot more beekeepers & are happy to help newcomers with advice & cheap kit.

I've had this book recommended to me. I've leafed through Mrs Fiddlesticks' copy and it looked excellent.

That is a good book - there are so many. Think there's even a bee-keeping for dummies book

Thanks everyone! A lot of good info there that will definitely get me looking in the right direction!

I've been up the top field this morning trying to work out where I might put them, but one step at a time, eh?
