these snaps have been compressed by 98%, i will sort out a way to see full fat photos. they are much nicer .

so far i have just played with the camera and not got proper editing stuff sorted but even using the basics it seems to work.

I expect you know that is the Marmalade Fly (Episyrphus balteatus). Lovely picture.

thanks.

marmalade fly is a perfect description, they are one of many species that visit.
i reckon double figures, i just took some snaps of a rather unfortunate nymph in a spider web.

i will see if any look ok.

nature is pretty harsh sometimes, 5 mins later the unfortunate one had been collected.

i took a few id snaps of it but this seems to cover the event.

re id snaps that little thing can be viewed in detail by zooming on the full frame image.

zooming on the web version is fuzzy

I love the composition of the Marmalade Fly picture.

It's one of the easiest to identify - sadly, few are that simple.

the green caterpillar fooling birds but not me by pretending to be a rocket seed pod has a photo but what sort it was might need a sandwich box and some net curtain.

probably one of the whites, we have several types

i spose a book with detail as to how many hairs it has on it's chinny chin chin ( or elsewhere and the colour of the second legs to confirm the id )

at some point i am going to have to get technical with id , but i do like marmalade flies and orange pashmina bees

Not quite sure what your orange pashmina bees are, but like the description. Your photos are good, but the subject sometimes hard to see, although glad to have seen Mikro Sammison.

Great pictures Dpack. It was a bit like "where's Mikro" but I spotted him in the end. Cheeky little chap.
