Hello, I have just got a Flymo dm 3hp rotorvator, engine is now running well and clean but it seems odd that when i pull the handle for the belt tensioner the rotors stop, should this not work the other way around ? i have checked images of these machines and it all looks ok , all I can think is that it has the wrong belt on as it seems loose fitting. Does anybody have one of these or any idea where i'm going wrong?

I seem to recall - from distant memory - that this is the way it should work. The handle pulled in stops the rotors and while it is out the rotors are driven. Completely unintuitive and an HSE nightmare.

Like you the machine I used was incorrectly belted.

Got a new belt for the flymo and it works just fine now.
