I'm now the proud owner of 6 brussels sprouts plants thanks to the Skillshare weekend plant swap, and I have no idea what to do with them.

I do have a bit of clear garden, but we're on acid soil, will they survive there, or should I put them in big pots with growbag type compost in them, in which case, how big?

Anything else I need to do to them apart from the usual watering?

I like the idea of growing them in pots. Wouldn't they have to be bottomless pots to facilitate the huge tap-root?

hmm, what about if I put them in 10" pots for a couple of weeks to get the roots a bit more established in appropriate soil then put them out into the garden, would that be a good compromise or might they not like being moved twice?

Mine are in fairly acid soil, and are romping away like weeds!! I'd just bung 'em in and see what happens. They were spares anyway, so nowt to lose

Oops forgot about acidity/lime. I've stuck my kale in where chickens were this winter, thinking leafy stuff likes manure.

I was going to put the rest out there, too.
