In this region, Scottish Enterprise Dumfries and Galloway (SEDG) provide a mentoring scheme for small and medium-sized businesses that have started-up and look as though they might need to plan for near-future growth, i.e. are doing something right, or push the right buttons at SEDG in terms of regional economic strategy.

WW, it would be worth finding out what mentoring provision there is in your region.

Princes Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) also provide a mentoring scheme for young entrepreneurs. And always welcome new volunteer mentors.

What mentoring support is available in other areas, what kind of thing is involved, and has anyone on Downsizer had experience of either being mentored or being a small business mentor ?

I think different regions have their own variations on this idea. Conwy Enterprise were very helpful to me when I was getting my little business going. (They used to have a website of their own but I've just noticed it has gorn... better update my links page). A.
