A friend of mine has Soay sheep and wants to know how to tan the skins...I know faithmead does hers I just wondered if anyone knew how to do it, or had different ideas?

personally i have the fortune to live not that far from a tannery and w go around with the skins and they do it..
I get kits from snowdonia taxidermy for small skins (although you can do big skins, it's a lot of work!) - it's not in any way organic, but it's easy enough to do, just a case of fleshing, washing and then painting various concoctions on, then it's done in a matter of days, and machine washable
Me too. I used their kit to do a fallow deer skin and it was a clean enough process. I've not got round to softening it so it's like cardboard, but it's not gone off so I'm pleased
