We will be baling today and have some lovely meadow hay for sale. Well packed conventional bales.
Ideal for horses, sheep etc, made from old pasture in the Clun ESA so a good mix of grasses. Low input so ideal for ponies (we have supplied the RSPCA in the past for their laminitic ponies).
£3.50 if collected off the field today/tomorrow. 01547 510263

I hope you've got it in, its absolutely piddling it down here.

Personally, I'd rather buy it by the ton, or parts of. There are bales and then again there are bales. I've had some that you could almost lift with one finger, while there are others that are a real struggle to lift. At least by the ton, you know what you're getting.

£5-6 to have your hay baled? Is that large bales or conventional - certainly seems very steep if conventional bales.
We have a lack of barn space for the hay hence I am offering it cheaply for anyone who can collect off the field today/tomorrow - and there is less handling for us too, would expect to charge a bit more once it has been brought in..need to speak to neighbour about storage space.
The sun is shining here! Where abouts are you Bodger?
It was cloudy last night, but no rain so hopefully minimum dew to and we can start baling early. These are well packed bales not the 'Patches purses' I have come across in the past, not sure whether I can fit one in the weigh crate to weigh, will have to try..

Any takers??

Please keep your rain there Bodger!! Metcheck is too pessimistic for hay making! BBC forecast looks good for today and tomorrow, so going with that one. Lacking helpers to get it in quickly hence price off the field, would consider further reduction/payment in hay if anyone is available to help lug bales today!

And I wish it wasn't today. Can't get away from my desk for the next two days, unfortunately, or I would be over like a shot.

Price seems OK to me. We sold ours at £3 from the barn this year, simply because we needed it shifted, and we didn't know where to pitch the price. Sold it within moments, and could have sold it 5 times.

Was reading the Farming paper in Ireland yesterday, and the prices they were showing were slightly less, maybe 2.5/3 Euro a bale, as averages across the country. I guess there's more fields, less demand, and less money there.

Will update tomorrow/Saturday Judith - no takers as yet so there could still be some available at the weekend - updated BBC forecast now looks dry over the weekend which is good news.

Difficult to know where to pitch pricing at Nick, I hope this is a fair price at current rates, and they are good well packed bales (still need to weigh one!). I advertised our remaining 80 bales of last years hay to clear the barn at £5.00/bale last week and it was gone in no time. But appreciate not everyone wants to feed new seasons hay straight away.

Yes always a good feeling to have a barn full of sweet smelling new hay! Ours hay has sweet vernal grass in it so smells delicious and is ideal for using in a lamb in hay recipe!

If it makes sense, can probably loan you barn space for a few weeks. Hereford way. PM me if needed.
