They'll be a bit off by then.

I have amassed enough local ingredients to make lobster thermidor, but can't get past the glass of white wine I need.

I could try it with elderflower must but it's a bit of a risk.

Doesn't it need brandy?
What about mead? Could that do the trick? You must be able to get mead.

Never seen brandy in a recipe, some call for sherry but I always add a glass of wine to the shallots just after softening.

Mead may be available, but not by tomorrow!

Yes please but I must get looking locally.

It's a lobster, don't risk spoiling it. (Although personally I don't always like alcohol in fish things, would rather at times just taste the fish.)
Haven't seen one of those locally for awhile either. Lobster that is.

Ah sorry, specific recipe in mind.

I don't think I managed anything this week, unless you count bacon sarnies, which I think it too close to last weeks bacon and eggs. I have two planned for next week, though.

I failed last week - in that although we ate some local stuff, managing a whole meal wasn't possible.

I've now tracked down some cotswolds brie for a local cheese which will help ideas and there are some early spuds ready up the plot.

Can still see me doing a meal of meat from next village, spuds and salad leaves from the plot, but needing to add tomatoes from the farmshop (english but not local) I've loads of strawberries and the meringues to go with are homemade with our eggs, but the sugar isn't local clearly. Its a case of nearly there isn't quite good enough isn't it?

I'm surprised at what I am finding difficult. I thought cheese would be a doddle, but what I was sold as "local" goat cheese at the farm shop proved to be from Carmarthen and thus from about 90 miles away! Even the Snowdonia range is outside my zone, which means no cheddary substitute.
I strongly suspect that one of my prospective wineries is out of range too
I'm also desperately trying to eke out my leeks in the garden as the onions are nowhere near ready, and I've not found any local ones yet either.
Still, it wouldn't be a challenge if it were easy

We haven't done anything that required onions yet. I wonder if three cornered leek bulbs would do. There's plenty of them!

Any ideas about what we could substitute for flour?

At least we don't have any problems on the dairy/cheese front.
