Okay... groan to the thread title but I have just booked myself on a beekeeping course for beginners and I am very excited!

After a week with two toddlers spraying out large volumes of diarumpy, a broken washing machine, starting to teach a new class, locking myself and the kids out of the house and having to call a locksmith to come save us - I could do with a little light at the end of the tunnel!

I have a bee taster day in a couple of weeks and then I start proper in Feb. Just before me birthday. Well excited!

Thanks guys. My understanding of working with bees is that you have to be very slow and calm. Slow and calm. I could do with some of that. Really excited so I am. I found the course through Beecraft and will wisp out of the house on Sunday mornings for 3 months leaving my hubby to cope with the chaos.

Ha ha... I'd like to see him settle down with that with our two in tow. I will be buzzing quietly and peacefully several miles away. Hope I don't get stung to bits. LOL.

Just got back from my bee taster course and I've got the bug! So looking fwrd to starting the course proper now and soooo excited about getting my first hives. Been talking the ears off Mr B about al me grand plans!

They are fascinating and addictive - Arvo started off having a fully-fledged bee-phobia and has now become a Bee Obsessive.

I can understand why Chez! I was absolutely hooked and have come home all fired up to push our plans forward by a whole year so I can start keeping bees this year while I am still doing the course and all the info is still fresh in my mind.

Absolutely GOB-SMACKED at how much honey one hive can produce.

I had no idea. I was expecting a few jars for the house.

They had a variety of honey there to taste from their various apiaries and they were all so lovely... you could taste the flowers in it... sigh...

Don't get too excited

---some members of our group who usually have big crops got no honey this year and I didn't get enough surplus to sell---hopefully next year will be better
